logicAlloy unveils RFID industry's first open source solution for a complete middleware package

logicAlloy's scalable platforms eliminate the high software infrastructure costs associated with RFID implementation

Portland, Oregon - March 12, 2006: logicAlloy Inc. announced today that it has released the first publicly available open source middleware for RFID integration. The ALE Server platform delivers a scalable, item level solution that enables manufacturers and retailers efficiently track individual items and pallets through their supply chain. The EPC Host platform allows integration and information sharing with partners in the supply chain. Both products have been released as open source, giving customers a royalty free software license for deployment of the systems. As a fully scalable solution, logicAlloy's products are capable of delivering any level of RFID compliance, from pilot projects to full implementation.

Item level-tagging allows the tracking of individual goods throughout a supply chain, providing real time data of each item, with far more accuracy and ease of collection than traditional bar-code based systems. This level of supply-chain visibility decreases shrinkage, reduces stock-outs, and lessens data collection costs. However, software and integration costs are estimated to be above 55% of the cost of RFID deployment, creating a cost-prohibitive environment for adoption of full systems. logicAlloy products mitigate this by providing simple solutions with no-cost software licenses.

ALE Server is an OSI Certified Open Source Software program and is fully compliant with EPCglobal specifications. The software is available for download off of sourceforge.net or www.logicAlloy.com.
